Thanks for coming to learn more about Stacey!
Following a 25-year career in arts administration and grant writing, Stacey Bennett Ramirez has leapt wholeheartedly into the world of children’s literature. She is represented by Vicky Weber at Creative Media Agency, and has poems published in The Dirigible Balloon and Paperbound Magazine.
Stacey has always loved reading and words. One of her first memories is of sitting with her dad as a pre-schooler, learning how to read and write her name. Her love of books grew during regular visits to the library with her mom and sister. Beverly Cleary, Judy Blume, Laura Ingalls Wilder, L.M. Montgomery, Shel Silverstein, C.S. Lewis, and Madeline L’Engle were her first favorite authors.
Stacey seeks joy and delight in the every day, and endeavors to write picture books and poetry with warmth, compassion, and wonder. She wants her books to feel like a hug, and to make kids smile and say “Again!”
An empty nester, Stacey lives with her husband and their grumpy but adorable elderly dog in Los Angeles, California. Her favorite things are reading, nature, music, cooking & eating, musical theater, birdwatching, travel, and family/friend time. Her favorite creatures are her husband, their three awesome grown children (and daughter-in-law-to be!), their family dogs, and the birds in their back garden.
